design thinking Global Innovation Day

As the weather warms up and the days become longer in Paris, we are reminded that another great academic year full of design thinking and innovation is coming to an end. Year two of d.thinking Ponts ParisTech has been just as amazing as the first with excited students challenging real world problems and issues. In order to celebrate a year worth of creativity and innovation, we would like to invite you to the design thinking Global Innovation Day at d.thinking Ponts ParisTech on Friday June 17th.

Throughout the day, students from ME310 and InnovActeurs will be presenting their projects and prototypes in both a podium presentation and design fair format.

ME310 is a year-long project-based design course where student teams take on innovation challenges proposed by corporate partners. Students go through an intense and iterative process of needfinding, ideation, and rapid prototyping to create and develop new concepts which is demonstrated through a fully functional proof-of-concept prototype. Furthermore, every team in ME310 collaborates with another team from a foreign university for the duration of the project. For 2011, students from Paris partnered with students from Stanford University, Aalto University in Helsinki, Finland, and Hasso Plattner Institute in Potsdam, Germany.

InnovActeurs is a course in design innovation which includes engineering students and instructors from the Industrial Engineering Department at Ponts ParisTech as well as instructors from ENSCI-Les Ateliers. Design thinking, design fiction, forecasting and backcasting methodologies are used to challenge large-scale social and corporate projects.

We hope you can join us!

Lodging

École des Ponts ParisTech is located in Marne-la-Vallée, 20 minutes east of Paris by RER A, the Regional Express Network. There is no shortage of accommodations in Paris (hotels.com, tripadvisor.com, hotels-paris.fr) but we recommend an area with easy access to the RER A line (Champs-Élysées, Opéra, Châtelet - Les Halles, Bastille - Nation - Gare de Lyon).

For lodging closer to École des Ponts ParisTech, we recommend the Ibis Marne La Vallée Champs, three minute walk from the venue and the Noisy-Champs RER A train station.
